TATSUSHIN HOUSE RULES

At Tatsushin we expect respect, discipline, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, dedication to the sport and good team spirit from all our members. This applies to both the trainer and fellow members. Every member of the gym is accepted as a sports friend and as a person, both inside and outside the gym.

Before training:

Arrive on time, at least 15 minutes before the start of the lesson. You can change in the changing rooms, which are a little further down the hall. Before entering the mat, make a short bow to the mat at the gate and say "Osu..!" (This symbolizes the respect we have for each other and for ourselves on the mat). Reserve your training in time (at least 2 hours in advance) via the Eversports app, otherwise you cannot get on the mat. Make sure you have the right equipment for have the lesson ready. You can contact your fellow students or trainer for advice. This means, among other things, gloves, shin guards, bandage, toque and mouth guard. Always take a towel, water bottle and the correct and clean sports clothing with you. For kickboxing this also means knee pads. Put all your clothes, shoes, etc. in your bag. You can keep this in the dojo or put it in a locker. The key for a safe with a list of names hangs under the stairs. We train bare, clean feet with short nails, except when we train outside. Purchase your own sports equipment. After one month you are required to have your own belongings. Ensure a neat appearance and appropriate clothing. Do not wear outdoor shoes in the gym. Remove or tape off jewelry and piercings. Make sure your nails are short and that you smell fresh. Tie up long hair and do not wear bare torsos outside the changing rooms. Put your cell phone on silent. Report any injuries or vulnerabilities to the trainer before class. Greet everyone with a box and say "Osu..!", introduce yourself to the people you don't know. Stay off the mat before your lesson starts and place your water bottle and towel in the designated place. Make sure your bicycle is in the bicycle shed.

Start and during the training:

Start the lesson at the trainer's signal. When the Sensei shouts: "SEIZA" we line up in rows next to each other. Sit on your knees and place your hands on your thighs with extended fingers. "SENSEI NI REI" (greeting to the teacher). This is what the student sitting at the far right of the Sensei calls out. Let your hands slide over your thighs to the floor, place your fists on the mat and greet the Sensei with a short bow: "OTEGA NI REI" (greeting to fellow students). This is what the Sensei calls out. Make a short bow again and greet each other. Say OSU during the lesson, if you have understood what the trainer says. Address the teacher as Sensei and the assistant teacher as Senpai. Greet your training buddy at the beginning and end of an exercise with a boxing and eye contact. Have an active listening attitude during the explanation and practice with respect with the person you train with. Adapt to your training buddy and fight with each other, not against each other. Drink only when the trainer indicates this. Discuss any injuries or inconveniences in advance with the trainer. You can always come and watch if you can't train. The sport must be safe, both emotionally and physically. Always follow the trainer's instructions. Do not swear on the mat and do not use plastic bottles, but water bottles. Do not eat food on the mat. Always tidy up the teaching material after use, where it belongs.

End of training:

When the Sensei shouts: "SEIZA" at the end of the training, we line up again in rows next to each other. Make another short bow and greet each other. Afterwards we all give the Sensei a box and say "Osu..!", starting with the person sitting in the front right, so that we have all greeted each other personally. Leave the mat after the lesson. Ask the trainer if you would like to can stretch. You can chat in the loft upstairs, but make sure that you do not cause any nuisance to the following class group. Used items that you have left behind can be found in the lost and found section. Do not sit on the lounge furniture with wet sports clothing. Wear dry, clean clothes. Feedback for the trainer is always appreciated. Do not smoke in front of the entrance.

Addition for youth and parents:

The above rules also apply to parents. Parents of training youth are not allowed on the mat during training. Parents have a motivating and stimulating role towards their own child(ren), without hindering the lesson.
